You can integrate this database directly into your Canvas course (see the next tabs in this module) which makes embedding and viewing video very easy. If you have any trouble with this, please get in touch with erin.duane@solano.edu or scclibrary@solano.edu.
To provide a link to a video in Films on Demand, click the SHARE button at the bottom of the video, then select EMBED/LINK and copy the record URL to your Canvas course. (Note: using the EMBED code as shown below the "Record URL" in your Canvas shell will work, but will embed the MySolano authentication page first, which may be confusing to students. To embed the video directly, see instructions on the next tab.)
Films on Demand - Share Link - Video Instructions
To install the app, click on SETTINGS in Canvas, then the APPS tab. Search in the available apps for Films on Demand. You should get a search result that looks like this:
Next, you'll need to configure the app by inputting the Consumer Key and Shared Secret. You'll need to get these from a librarian. Please email erin.duane@solano.edu or scclibrary@solano.edu.
Click "Add App" and now Films on Demand has been installed to your Canvas instance and you should be able to directly find and embed our FoD content to your class shells; neither you nor students should have to authenticate further to view these videos in your classes. Please get in touch if you experience otherwise.
After you've installed and configured the Films on Demand app to your canvas shell, you can use the Rich Content Editor on any Canvas page, assignment, announcement, etc, to embed.
