Embedding SCC Library Resources (for Faculty)

Instructions and ideas for embedding library resources into Canvas.

Swank Digital Campus

Swank Digital Campus

Swank Digital Campus is a collection of streaming films licensed annually by our library for educational use.   "Swank partners with major Hollywood studios, documentary providers, independent filmmakers and international film companies to provide a diverse library of more than 25,000 films and TV shows."  The films do not have public viewing rights and should only be viewed via your Canvas course shells or shown in class.

Here are some examples of how Swank's films can be utilized in various disciplines to augment learning.

How does Swank work?
  1. The library purchases a one-year license for the specific film title.
  2. To see if the film is already licensed by SCC, check the "Our Swank Collection" box on this page.
  3. To see if Swank offers the film you'd like to request, you can search the Swank Catalog.
  4. If the film has been licensed, contact to request the link.
  5. If the film has not been licensed and you would like to request the film, you can either create a Swank Instructor Account (see instructions below) to make the request, or email  Be sure to specify the course in which you plan to use the film.
  6. If Swank doesn't offer your film, please get in touch so the library can investigate potential alternative access points.
  7. To share a licensed film, request the link (see step 4), then share it with your class via your Canvas shell(s).

NOTE: Until we have an idea of usage and campus need, we are allocating one film per faculty member per year.  Unlike our other library databases which offer unlimited access, Swank's licensing model means we have a limited number of available licenses per year.

Creating a Swank Instructor Account

1.    Use Internet Explorer
2.    Go to and select: “create instructor account” at the login screen (ignore any error message about your I.P. address)
3.    After registration, look for an email from (check your spam or “Other” folders) to verify your account
4.    Browse and request available titles once you have verified & logged in
5.    Once we’ve received your title request, we will do our utmost to accommodate that request.

If you’d rather just browse the available title list and not make an instructor account, visit:  (and then you can send me a link or title request via email)
