Embedding SCC Library Resources (for Faculty)

Instructions and ideas for embedding library resources into Canvas.

Swank Digital Campus

Swank Digital Campus

Swank Digital Campus is a collection of streaming films licensed annually by our library for educational use.   "Swank partners with major Hollywood studios, documentary providers, independent filmmakers and international film companies to provide a diverse library of more than 25,000 films and TV shows."  The films do not have public viewing rights and should only be viewed via your Canvas course shells or shown in class.

Here are some examples of how Swank's films can be utilized in various disciplines to augment learning.

How does Swank work?
  1. The library purchases a one-year license for the top 1000 (most frequently licensed) films in Swank's collection.
  2. To see if a particular film is available immediately in our Top 1000, check the "Our Swank Collection" box on this page.
  3. To see if Swank offers the film that is NOT in our Top 1000, you can search the Swank Catalog.
  4. If you want a film that Swank offers that is NOT in our Top 1000, please email erin.duane@solano.edu with the film title.

To share a film with your students, you'll need the film's URL. Create a Swank instructor account (see below) or email erin.duane@solano.edu for help.

Creating a Swank Instructor Account

1.    Use Internet Explorer
2.    Go to https://digitalcampus.swankmp.net/admin/scc374749/login and select: “create instructor account” at the login screen (ignore any error message about your I.P. address)
3.    After registration, look for an email from donotreply@digitalcampus.com (check your spam or “Other” folders) to verify your account
4.    Browse available titles once you have verified & logged in.  Click the "share" button on any title you wish to share with your students to get the link needed for sharing/viewing.

Swank Technical Support and FAQs

You may wish to provide students with this Swank FAQ link to expedite technology support and system requirement questions they may have.

  • Films can be streamed on Chrome, IE, Safari, and Firefox.  Once a film has been licensed, you can share that link with your class via Canvas.
  • Films can be streamed on any mobile device with a free Swank Media Player app.
