Need to Know:

To check one out, you’ll need:

  • a Solano College Library card. Signing up for a library card is free, but requires a photo ID and student ID number.
  • to show a valid photo ID at pickup (e.g., Student ID, driver’s license)
  • You may borrow one Chromebook and charger per semester.
  • Chromebooks are loaned for the full semester.
  • All files will be wiped upon return, so save your work in Google Drive or cloud storage.
  • Chromebooks do not include Microsoft Office or Adobe software. Use Google Docs or Microsoft 365 web apps instead
  • Return your Chromebook by the December 12th, 2025.
  • Late, damaged, or missing devices may result in fees and a financial hold on your student record.

Chromebooks are available at these locations:

  • Fairfield Campus – Library, 1st Floor Circulation Desk
  • Vacaville Center – [Vacaville campus library, front desk if library is closed]
  • Vallejo Center – [Vallejo campus library, front desk if library is closed]

Student Chromebook Loan Agreement

A completed/signed agreement form is required for every Chrombook loan.  This is a copy for informational purposes only; a copy of the form will be provided to you at the library.

HonorLock Chromebooks

  • The library has Chromebooks with HonorLock loaded for students to check out: 3 hours, library use only. (At this time, the Fairfield campus library has 8 devices; one device will be at each Center library soon. Students at the Centers will want to coordinate with the ASTC for availability of a private study room.)
  • Any test taken using a library Chromebook must be taken within the library’s open hours. Please make sure you are aware of these hours and plan accordingly to finish testing prior to closing time.
  • Please be aware of your instructor's HonorLock requirements/settings ahead of time to determine if the library space is aligned with your needs.
  • The Fairfield campus has an open-access silent study room that students can use to take tests. There may be students entering/exiting this room; HonorLock settings would need to allow for this.
  • Private study rooms (2 hour availability) should be booked in advance as they are high-demand; we cannot guarantee walk-in availability. Note that you may need to coordinate a study room's availability with any potential required start-time of your test (i.e., if your test is proctored/real-time).
  • Library staff cannot provide HonorLock support.
