How do Reserves work?

The library's reserve collection allows checkouts for the following items:

You may borrow reserve items in two ways:

IN PERSON AFTER HOURS

Ask for your books at the front desk, M-Th 8:30 am-6:45pm & F 8:30 am - 12:45 pm

(It's helpful if you bring your class syllabus or know the following info: Course name and number, Full book title, Edition number)

The Library is now offering WEEKEND textbook checkouts. If you have ever wished to take home one of our reserve textbooks to study over the weekend, now is your chance! 

Here's how it works:
•    Stop by in person either Thursday afternoon or anytime on Friday and request a weekend check-out
•    To pick up books over the weekend using our lockers, call us at 707.864.7132 to place an order.  You must have a library card and school email to use the lockers.
•    The textbooks must be returned Monday morning.  They can be returned over the weekend using our 24/7 dropboxes, or in person when we open on Monday.

 
NOTE: all reserve checkouts require you to have a Solano College (or Napa Valley College/Napa County) library card.  If you don't have one yet, please fill out this form: https://napa.polarislibrary.com/polaris/patronaccount/selfregister.aspx?ctx=10.1033.0.0.5 and then come in person to get a physical card.

Reserves Borrowing Rules

  • Not all textbooks are available in the reserve collection. 
  • If we do not have a book, we can try to order it.
  • Abuse of reserve collection check out periods may result in (up to a) $300 fine and suspension of borrowing privileges. 
  • Checkout periods for each item vary (some books are 2 hours, library use only and some are semester long checkouts). 
  • Back-to-back checkout periods are not permitted for high use / single copy items.
  • Calculators can be loaned out for a 7-day period, but may be renewed based on availability.
  • Renewals cannot be guaranteed.
  • Textbooks and Calculators cannot be renewed over the phone.   
  • If you have overdue library items from previous semesters, please return them to the library dropdoxes on the Fairfield campus.
  • Once received, we will clear all late fees/blocks.
