World Literature

The literature that we read in elementary and secondary school is a reflection of a specific society in a particular culture.  Often we forget that there is, quite literally, a whole world of literature that we have not yet explored.  Although no one can possibly read every book ever written, there are canonical authors and works in just about every culture, society, or country that has a written language.  When we read literature from all over the world, we gain insight into the societies, cultures, time periods, religious beliefs, and so much more reflected in those works.  Our collection at Solano Community College provides a broad selection of texts from many different perspectives and cultures, and this guide can help you get started on your next big adventure.
