If you need to write a paper on World Literature, here are a couple of tips:
First, do some preliminary research on the author(s).
If the work is not contemporary, do some research on the time period within which the work(s) were written. This helps to give you context.
Narrow down what you want to search. For example, if you are working with books that use magical realism, you will want "magical realism" to be one of your search terms. If you just look up an author or just look up a book without narrowing down what you are looking for, you will often end up with far too many articles to read.
Have multiple search terms in mind.
Make sure that you are reading expert, peer-reviewed sources.
Use the limiting features "And," "Or," and "Not" when available.
When you pull out quotes for your paper, make sure to write down the page number so that you can come back to the quote if you need to do so.
If you still have trouble after looking at JSTOR and Academic Search complete, you can try this database. It only gives you the citation, so you will still need to look up the articles themselves in order to get access to the full text. See a librarian for help with this if you have difficulties.
